Launching of ASEAN Global Leadership Program 2016

Regional management consulting firm SRW&Co. this week announced the launch of ASEAN Global Leadership Programs 2016 for Southeast Asia.

“The ASEAN Global Leadership Program was established in response to the needs of our clients in the region for a custom program to address the challenges and opportunities in ASEAN, in anticipation of the formation of AEC by end of 2015,” said Daniel Wong, Chairman & Partner of SRW&Co. “… the participants wanted to use the program as a learning platform to specifically address the challenges and opportunities of the ASEAN organizations by sharing their insights with their peers in ASEAN , facilitated by the world class faculty of global business schools,” added Wong. To date, the firm has launched the flagship program in collaboration with other business schools such as University of Cambridge Judge Business School, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and UC Berkeley-Haas School of Business.

“In 2016, we will be launching 2 programs with the UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education-Haas School of Business and London Business School”, explained Wong, who also mentioned that the ASEAN Global Leadership Program now has an alumni of 200 top executives in the region.

The theme of the program in UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education-Haas, aptly entitled “Unleashing the Potential of ASEAN Organizations- The Innovation Imperative “ will examine how leaders use innovation to drive impactful change to grow and sustain the business. Besides classroom lectures, the program will include site visits to some of the iconic innovative companies in the Silicon Valley.

“To compete effectively in this rapidly changing global economy, executives in S.E. Asia need to constantly evolve and improve their portfolio of skills, with particular focus on driving innovation and leading with an entrepreneurial mindset,” commented Mark Coopersmith, the Faculty Director who has led the ASEAN Global Leadership Program in Berkeley-Haas since 2014. Mark was on his ASEAN tour end of August, having spoken at various seminar events and met with top executives in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. “The world of business in 2016 is incredibly fast-paced, competitive, and globally connected, it is filled with disruptive innovations, new products and services, and fresh business models,” commented Mark.

“This is the reality we face every day in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, and increasingly, in the ASEAN region as well, as I witnessed in my recent trips to Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia,” he added.

Jeff Rosenthal, CEO of UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education in his welcoming note in the 2016 program brochure, expressed optimism about the growth potentials of ASEAN. “With its combined population of more than 600 million people, young workforce and abundant natural resources, Southeast Asia is poised to be one of the world’s economic hot spots in the coming decades.”  He further added, “…UC Berkeley’s Center for Executive Education is committed to developing executives in the region, and we are excited to work with SRW&Co. to conduct the 3rd series of the ASEAN Global Leadership Program in 2016.”

The 5-day ASEAN Global Leadership Program was first launched in 2009 by SRW&Co. in collaboration with Cambridge University Judge Business School. The custom program catered to the C-suite and policy makers in the ASEAN region, focusing on topics of Globalization, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Leadership in the ASEAN setting. A Global Human Capital Trends 2015 Survey by Deloitte for Southesat Asia indicated that Managing Talent is the most important and challenging issue. Of the top 10 Talent trends in Southeast Asia, Leadership is ranked No.1 importance with Workforece Capability and Culture & Engagement as No. 2 and 3 respectively.

Enrolment for the 2016 ASEAN Global Leadership Programs will be open from October 2015. The UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education–Haas program will be conducted from 8th-13th May on the UC Berkeley campus, while the program with London Business School will be conducted from 26th-30th September, 2016 on the main campus of London city.
