ABA 2016 WINNERS Attending UC Berkeley Fourth Annual ASEAN Global Leadership Program

For the 4th consecutive year, UC Berkeley Executive Education is partnering with Southeast Asia-based management consulting firm SRW&Co. to host the annual ASEAN Global Leadership Program (AGLP) on their Berkeley campus, specifically designed for the top executives in the public and private sector across the ASEAN region .

The 5-day program entitled “Shaping Our Future as Leaders of Innovation: ASEAN Global Leadership Program” was attended by a group of 38 top executives in the ASEAN countries, from May 8-12, 2017.

In June 2016, ASEAN BAC and SRW&Co. signed a MOU to forge a strategic partnership which provided a scholarship to 3 ASEAN Business Award winners to attend the AGLP in UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. They are Win Win Tint of Myanmar, (Young Entrepreneur Awardee), Jhondie T Abenaza of the Philippines, ( Best Innovative SME Awardee) and Anusia Ramasamy of Malaysia, ( Woman Entrepreneur Awardee).

In the 5-day program, distinguished faculty from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business led a deep dive into innovation’s key drivers including: experimentation, global and local trends, customer centric product and service design, collaboration, and culture.” Additionally, the participants also visited leading Silicon Valley companies such as Google and Autodesk “to gain insights into their secrets for success and engage with these business leaders who shared their perspectives on Silicon Valley culture and innovation.”

The customised Executive Education program saw organisations from a diverse range of industries sharing insights and learning from each other, as well as from world class faculty. The 3 ABA 2016 winners also participated in a Panel discussion on Entrepreneurship and shared their experiences and insights as entrepreneurs in addressing the challenges and opportunities they faced in building a sustainable business in their home countries and the international market.

In an interview, the 3 ABA awardees confirmed that they had benefited tremendously from attending the AGLP and they will be happy to share their insights and experiences with anyone who may be interested to learn more about the AGLP.

With the successful inaugural launch of the AGLP scholarship scheme, ASEAN BAC will continue to work with SRW&Co. to offer similar opportunities for the selected 2017 ABA winners to attend the AGLP in a world class business school in 2018.
